Why Compute Sponsoring matters to wavebird
Compute Sponsoring is a published proposal for describing how an ad exposure relates to an identifiable unit of AI compute. wavebird applies its principles of separation, consent and control to advertising around consumer AI experiences.
The proposal distinguishes the source of semantic context from how long that context is retained. These dimensions help teams describe neutral, situational and profiling-based approaches without treating every AI ad as the same kind of targeting.
In this chat, house placements demonstrate the experience; their appearance does not establish paid sponsorship. In publisher applications, eligible ad delivery can contribute revenue while the model runs independently.
The September 2026 publication is authored by Christian Leinberger. Its version history credits Mario von Bassen as a coauthor of the February 2026 version. It is a proposal for shared terminology, not a certification or a formally adopted industry standard.
